The Moonbeam (Mahina Pa'ina) Friday July 27, 2018

Calling all flyers! On Friday July 27 at 5 p.m. we are having a full moon flying get together at the Makapuu LZ. Fly until the moon comes up, then wind down at the LZ under the moonlit skies. It was a tradition in the old days, so why not bring it back? Of course the flying is weather dependent, but someone will always fly. Bring a flashlight, a cooler, an appetizer, your wife or girlfriend (maybe both), the dog, a chair and most importantly your glider. With light winds and clear skies, it is magic. See you there!

Just to clarify, in the old paragliding days it was always fun and social, in the old old hang gliding days it was more dark and demented, we are not going there. If you want to be amused ask a hang glider for a story of those days.

Darn it, I'm back this coming Friday but then leaving on full moon Friday for a week in DC. Maybe I can fly the almost full moon on Thursday instead. But I'll miss the party. Great idea Dave, hope you get perfect weather!

I am in hopes of attending.

Thanks Dave for stepping it up and getting all the dead wood around here (myself included) sparked to fly.

With Alex always traveling around we are not getting any pictures or stories. As for me, well there isn't enough bytes here to yarn my perplexed saga. But all is getting better just a bunch of work and life changers.

Hope to see you all in the air cause it is,

Way past time for me to fly, got to find my gear and go!!!!

I do prefer the moon conditions two days before the full moon, so it is up bright at sunset, but then the get together would be a Wednesday and less people could play.

I was thinking of a lighted spot landing, for ground crew entertainment. Maybe s’mores and scary paragliding stories. Who has a portable fire pit. Remember the Makapuu LZ got sodded compliments of DG, so you can go barefoot without bingies.
