Jim Simmons Remembrance and Celebration of Life: Saturday April 11, 2026 1 p.m. Makapuu LZ

 

The Hawaii Paragliding Association welcomes everyone to a service celebrating the life of our fellow flyer, Jim "Waianae" "One-Eye" Simmons at the Makapuu Landing Zone on Saturday, April 11th, 2026 at 1 p.m.

Jim flew paragliders for over 20 years in Hawaii and has grown a community of friends on the island. On December 8th of last year, Jim had an unfortunate paragliding accident that ended his life. This will be a day to remember all the many good days spent with Jim and to look back at the life of a great man.

Bring your friends and family to share stories from over the years. Jim's family will be in town in attendance, so let's make this day special.

There will be a flower drop, group flights, tandem flights depending on the weather, followed by a service after.

Food and drink will be provided or bring something to share. Please bring any tents, tables, chairs and coolers to make it more comfortable.
