Open Invitation

Dear Hawaii paragliding friends: I left our fair shores last year on a different sort of XC mission. I flew away to embark on a life of committed reciprocal love. The official (legal) beginning of that journey will be taking place on June 20 on a snowy mountainside.

I wish that all of you could be there to support me as I launch into this flight, but it is a long way to go for a simple ceremony. If any of you are so inclined, you would certainly be welcomed to what will be a humble, but joyous event. Given the travel distance, I will be happy to think that you are with John and me in spirit, perhaps enjoying a lofty sojourn along the lovely slopes of the Koolaus at that time. We hope you will be able to join us at a celebration of our new beginning when we return to our island home in a few years.

If you think you might find yourself travelling on the mainland near NE Utah and would be able to join us on June 20, or anytime for friendship and perhaps flying, please drop us a line.

Sandy and John

Yay Sandy! Wish I could be there to watch you tie the knot, but I'll just have to settle for seeing the pictures someday. Congratulations to both of you!

Congratulations Sandy and John!
We hope to see both of you flying the friendly skies of Hawaii very soon. It would be great to have another female pilot on the island.

Sandy and John, Lori and wish we could have been at your mountain celebration. Hope the weather gods looked after you!

The weather gods had a blast! I got enough of the snow cleared from the patio by shovelling several hours each on Sat, Sun, Tuesday, and Thursday. On the big day, the clouds cleared just barely long enough for us to consider having it out there. Then the rains returned, and then snow, and finally marble-sized hail during our vows.
No worries, we had a fire in the fireplace, a big tarp over John's brother cooking the beef tenderloin, and everyone including my grandmother got on the dancefloor! After the main festivities, a clear sky of stars shone brightly over the hot tub with the last few guests.
It was quite an event!
