If flying a great site is nice, sharing a great site with a visiting pilot makes it twice as nice. And picking up the pilot from their hotel is ridiculously nice. Jim went to Waikiki two days in a row to pick up visiting pilot Jule from Waikiki and take her to Makapuu and Kahana - now that's giving back to the sport. I know I'm lucky to fly with some nice folks, but I'm always impressed to see just how helpful our pilots are with visitors. I've helped a few visitors in my time, but I don't think I've ever gone that extra mile for the hotel pickup. I guess I still have a long way to go before I'm as nice as you guys! I'll keep working on it.
We enjoyed a long day of flying in perfect conditions at Kahana yesterday with Ray, Greg, Beeman Mark, Scot, Joey, Jeff, Jim, Reaper, Bonnie, Maui Doug, Maui Jim, and visitor Jule. it was a bit northeasterly most of the day, so the bay crossing seemed like a good plan. We all tried it many times, but only Scot actually made it over there. He came came back soon after though, after struggling to get established.
Thanks to Reaper for the refreshments.
