Transalp Tour 09 France

I know it has been 3 months since our summer of fun in France, but better late than never to share this Photo stream with you all. We rode over 5000 miles on our Honda Transalp XL700V Moto through France, Italy, & Spain, camping, hiking, & some very memorable Paragliding in the Chamonix Valley for 10 days at the closing of the Vacation.

I did get to borrow a wing at the Dunes Du Pyla while camping there on the Moto & flew for one hour on a 800' sand dune next to Arcachon on the Atlantic Coast, very lucky in deed. Also while in Chamonix we rented an Apartment for 10 days, as many of you know very well from our Paragliding trip there a few years ago. I flew the Chamonix Valley every mid morning & after lunch drove 20 minutes to the Passy Valley & flew from Plain Joux every afternoon, while Jeannine was out doing her long day hikes.

I now must remember all to well every thermal generator in both these valleys after years of flying there, because this year was magical as I was going X/C every day at & above the top peaks in the back, up & down Chamonix & Passy Valleys at will, sometimes twice just because I could. We had a blast!!! Please remember it is an open invitation to all my friends to come join us for a 2 week Paragliding session in Chamonix as we go every summer, it would be excellent to have you there in one of the most beautiful places on earth, Chamonix...

Aloha Mad Dog & Jeannine ( La Peste )

Great pics :)

I love flying Dune du Pyla - I was there in April before the season started - I had the whole dune only for me alone :) it was sooo awesome!

I haven't been over that way since 2002, and I am long overdue.

Awesome adventure and so civilised as only Europe is.

My only comment is that there aren't enough spectacular mountain vistas, just kidding, wow!

Wow, Mad Dog, looks like you had a totally awesome trip. Stunning pictures from a biker's and PG pilot's paradise. Oh, man, I feel an attack of Rock Fever coming on.... Thanks for sharing - a nice diversion while we sit here waiting for all the Obamainable G-Men to go away.

Wow and awesome really describe your photos perfectly! I'm amazed that you could haul so much gear on your bike. I can tell you both have touring wired! What a fun adventure :-) Much aloha you two! MDoug

Incredible pictures, Chris! Who took them all? Some of them include you and Jeannine but not the bike, so I figured the bike must be taking some of the pictures, but some shots include all three of you! Whoever took them, they are gorgeous and inspiring. You truly are living the dream of every parabum. It was great meeting you in Chamonix in 2004 - maybe this year will be our chance to try that again!
