Bob's 50th B-Day Fly-In: May 14-16 at Kahana

It has been a year without Bob, or at least his physical presence. Bob's 50th Birthday is May 12, and the HPA never needs an excuse to have a get together, but this one will be a blast.

We are planning to camp at Kahana from Friday, May 14 to Sunday, May 16, so we will have a base station. There are only four campsites open due to the bridge construction, and we have reserved three of them. This will be an all family weekend - we will have kayaks and many other activities for the non-fliers, so everyone is encouraged to come by and join the fun during the weekend.

This is a Hawaii Open Paragliding Event. We are hereby inviting all fliers and friends of Bob on the mainland - I know you are reading this too. Sorry for the short notice: initially we had been planning for the end of June to mark the date of his passing, but instead we have decided to celebrate his life with a Birthday Bash/Fly-in. Hopefully this will become an annual event. Please, pilots from Maui, Big Island, Canada, Germany, Japan, China, Nepal, and all the other 49 states, as the ringer on my phone says when a pilot is calling: "It's Time to Fly, Get Your Gear and Go!" We would like to get as many wings in the air as possible for the flower drop.

We will keep this post updated as things progress: feel free to post an RSVP, a wish, or just a note to say aloha.

I have Site #9
I listed Myself & Donna plus 8 other pilots
Alex has Site #10 he listed 10 people
Jeff has Site#9 not sure how many he listed.
Alex & I also got 5 parking passes each. So we should be good for as many people that want to stay over.

Bob all we need you to do is Make it Flyable, I will even drink a Bud.

Too strange - my niece Rose would have been 16 on 07 May 2010. As some of you may recall she was killed by a drunk driver on the same day that Bob passed away. I'll be celebrating both of their lives - they were special people with very generous giving spirits.
