State Parks to Renew Kahana Permit

I just spoke with Dan Quinn, Director of the DLNR State Parks Division, and we agreed that the beach at Kahana has grown back to a sufficient size that it can be safely shared with paraglider pilots. So I am re-sending our renewal application to be processed. It usually takes them a while to get the permit drafted and signed by the chairman, but hopefully it won't be too long, and I can go in and sign it to make it official soon after I return to the island on Thursday.

John, I'm sorry we didn't see you at our meeting and party the other night. Come hang out with us sometime!

Our permit at Kahana is always renewable every year on March 1, which is the end of the USHPA site insurance period. So the permit does expire each year, but it's renewed immediately - except this year because of the problems with the beach.

If you haven't already, please make sure you sign our waiver before you fly out at Kahana - the permit requires it. Thanks - hope to see you soon.

Thanks Alex, but I always see renewal time as a possible closing of a window. There can be surprise issues simmering under the surface, or at least I have seen that at previous home sites.

I thought I had been consistant in mailing in HPA waiver along with yearly dues, unless the form on your "visiting pilots" page has a bogus address. I do carry cancelled checks in my harness (but seemed to have dropped USHPA card, maybe kiting - I guess suspicious ones can find my credentials on ushga.org).

I don't mean to be shadowy, but have certain transportation issues that can make appearences rare. But my new mt glider rig fits on the bus! BTW excuse double posting, but sometimes I have to because there is a rejection paired with an auto login right after... maybe a Mac quirk. Whew, enough about MY boring issues.

John, if you sent your waiver to the PO Box then it bypassed me and went straight to Quentin (our illustrious Treasurer) so that's fine.
