The Loneliness

The worst thing about flying a rocket ship is not having your friends with you all the time. It's lonely out in space! It's even worse because we have so many pilots on the sick or injured or traveling list. I hope everyone gets up and running soon - I need more company on my missions!

Today I flew briefly with Woody, Jorge and JJ at Kahana, before blazing off to Kualoa and Mokolii, and finally back to Swanzys. It was a beautiful day for cross country flying, with lighter wind and higher cloudbase than we've seen in a while, but rain squalls and hunger brought me down earlier than I would have liked. Thanks to Jorge for the pickup and the cold refreshments.

At least I got some great company once I landed! Jorge, Woody, Duck and I ate at Bobo's, and then headed back to the beach. Lake and Roland and Jason flew later on. It was also good to see Jeff, Bonnie and Allegra out there.

My track is here and also embedded below. It was scored as a triangle because I flew far enough offshore!

Don't forget, you can always land next to your friends at the LZ

Zero hour nine a.m.
And I'm gonna be high as a kite by then
I miss the earth so much I miss my wife
It's lonely out in space
On such a timeless flight

And I think it's gonna be a long long time
Till touch down brings me round again to find
I'm not the man they think I am at home
Oh no no no I'm a rocket man
Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone

never been so true...

Wow Duck, didn't think anyone would catch that little quotation. I have been waiting to make a video with that song as the soundtrack cause I'm gonna need a whole lot of epic footage to do it justice at 6 and a half minutes. Maybe when I get that flight where I'm surfing the rings of Saturn...

It's great to read and see your flights! Very nice video again. It makes these long work stretches better. I love the track logs with google earth! Thanks man.

Still on the sick list! I need these stories more than ever, so keep them coming.

Rocketman, add it to the list of call signs, I guess. This one is most appropriate with the new wing graft.

I can't wait to trade by orange and cranberry juice into some good old fashioned 'grape' juice, but till then, get some good flights and weave me a tale or two.

Thanks

JJ Jameson

Dave, I'm sure you're old enough to remember, but for our younger viewers, it might be worth pointing out that the Family Guy scene was a complete rip-off of the train wreck rendition William Shatner gave us in the 70s.
