Festivities & Flying

What a great post-party day of flying we had out at Kahana yesterday. Out of 12 pilots at Kahana, 10 flew, and 4 flew downrange to land at Hauula Community Park (adjoining the school), including Big Island visitor Moku. It started out a bit on the northerly side, down to 29 degrees at one point, but we could never manage to get across the bay, and after it turned more easterly we finally gave up on the bay crossing and headed the other way. Thanks to Thom and Damian for the retrieves, and to Moku and his sponsors for the refreshments!

Also, thanks to everyone who came out to the meeting and party the night before! We had a near record turnout by my count, almost fifty people: 32 pilots and nearly 20 family members and friends. That's truly amazing for a party this time of year when lots of folks are out of town or busy with end of summer stuff. It was great to have Stefanie join us for the first time in a few years, and to see a lot of our newer faces: Beeman Mark, JD & LeeAnn, new student Tommy. And we were happy to see Big Island visitor Moku and returning visitor Thomas from LA. And some other folks we haven't seen in a while: Dan Ziegler, Dave Nichols, Hilo Ken, Cliff, Sharky. I hope we'll see more of those guys, preferably on launch sometime soon. Dave came out yesterday and had a great flight with us at Kahana.
